| If you were not accepted into the School of Architecture or have now decided to change your major to Architecture or Interior Design, you will not be able to register for the design studio sequence of classes at FITJ. You may register for the equivalent courses either at Miami Dade College or Broward Community College by following the steps below:
• Keep your major as it is (whether it is undecided, Business, Psychology, etc. it does not matter at this time).
• Register for any and all of your courses you wish to take at FlU except for Graphic Communication 1 & 2, and Designs 1 - 4.
In order to be dually enrolled at a community college and at FlU, you must fill out a Transient Student Form which may be found at www.facts.org. If you are receiving financial aid, grants, or scholarships, you must inform the Financial Office. Dual enrollment may jeopardize some awards.
• If you choose to attend Miami Dade College, register for ARC 1115 (equivalent to FlU's ARC 1131) and ARC 1301 (thi~ course is the same number at FlU). You may register for the remainder of your courses at FlU (for ex. ENC 1101, ARC 2701, SLS 1501).
• If you choose to attend Broward Community College, only register for ARC 1301. You will be waived from ARC 1131 at FlU because unlike MDC, BCC incorporates the graphic component into their design studio.
• Once you begin dual enrollment at the community college, you must finish ARC 1115, ARC 1126 (equivalent to FIU's ARC 1132), and Design 1-4.
To Apply to FlU - Upper Division
While you are in Design 4, you will be required to submit a portfolio for review by FlU. By this time you should have completed Design 1-3 and be registered in Design 4, their prerequisites and ARC 2580 (Structures and Systems). You must also have earned a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average. If you have completed the above and your portfolio is approved, you will be accepted into Design 5 at FlU. Your major will then be changed to Architecture or Interior Design. You may apply to both Architecture or Interior Design if you wish. You must submit a separate portfolio for both.
• Upon completion of coursework at the community college, you must request a transcript to be sent to FlU so that you may be awarded transfer credit for your courses.
