Florida International University School of Architecture announces the formation of the FIU SOA Design League.
The mission of the FIU SOA Design League is to advocate design excellence, to advance public design education and to promote a culture of design arts for creative students and professionals through private contributions and gifts. Membership contributions support professional development opportunities, guest lecturers and jurors, student assistantships, special events, publications and other enrichment activities not supported by state funding.
All FIU SOA Design League members receive invitations to regular School of Architecture events, lectures and exhibitions, as well as subscriptions to School of Architecture publications. Membership benefits also include invitations to special FIU SOA Design League events and public recognition appropriate to the level of giving.
The FIU SOA Design League will provide opportunities for members to serve as mentors, participate as design studio jurors, host alumni receptions, and organize informal design seminars. Members are encouraged to engage at a level that is appropriate for their availability.
The FIU SOA Design League is managed jointly by the office of the Director of the School of Architecture and a Council of Advisors. The Council of Advisors is comprised of representatives of the SOA advisory boards, general SOA student body, alumni, and other appointed design professionals. In the inaugural year of the FIU SOA Design League, the Council of Advisors is comprised of a steering committee appointed by the Director of the School of Architecture in consultation with the Program Chairs.
