Architecture
Welcome, and thank you for visiting our FIU School of Architecture website.
Before you go anywhere, click here for FIU Architecture's Fall 2012 lectures and here for exhibitions!
FIU is one of the most exciting places to study architecture in the U.S. We attract faculty and students from around the world, we offer access to the resources of a major research university within the collaborative environment of the College of Architecture + the Arts, and we draw inspiration from our spectacular location in a subtropical urban center at the edge of the Everglades, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Since you're reading this message, you probably share my opinion that the study and practice of architecture are profound and rewarding. Architecture frames our world through its materiality and beauty, it supports our daily functions and needs, it expresses our dreams and values, and, as it provides shelter, it engages us in a continual dialogue about community, technology, and sustainability. At the FIU School of Architecture I invite you to join in our ongoing quest to honor the promise of architecture though innovative design, intensive research, and committed community engagement.
Our faculty is exceptional in every way, with advanced degrees from the top universities in the world, rich experiences in practice, and connections to firms here in South Florida and around the globe. I hope you'll seize every opportunity to get to know us all this year.
And be sure to make the most of opportunities to get to know and learn from your fellow students and the South Florida community during this special experience. Ask questions of our lecturers and check out the exhibitions. Expand your experiences through our electives and available courses in Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture. Visit the Miami Beach Urban Studios at 420 Lincoln Road, a unique interdisciplinary study center focused on the design of the city, and explore our famed Paul Cejas School of Architecture Building designed by the Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi. Join our student organizations, and become an active member of our community. And, most important, enjoy, work hard, and dive into the world of architecture!
I look forward to connecting with you all this academic year and sharing ideas about architecture.
